Genealogy is a chance to tell a story that would otherwise be forgotten and allow those who are lost to be remembered.

When I moved from Melbourne, Australia to Cambridge in 2023, I wanted to find a role which aligned with my personal passions and professional experience. Coming into my role as Cases Manager at Treethorpe, I brought 18 years of personal genealogical experience, which had begun from the age of 12.

Having discovered the family mysteries for the first time at 12, I was determined to find the answers for my own family. Answers only ever lead to more questions and mysteries to discover. And so, my passion begun.

With seven years of professional experience within governmental departments in Australia, my administrative, research and analytical skills have been incredibly transferrable, which has allowed me to hit the ground running and learn on the go. My amazing colleagues and managers at Treethorpe have been by my side along the way; quickly discovering my learning style and adapting their teaching styles to suit. The environment has been incredibly nurturing and safe for learning and growing.

This role is so much more than genealogy. I enjoy working on my cases, listening to the stories and understanding the people involved, rather than just the paper and certificates their names are written on. Our stories should not be forgotten, and I feel in our role as probate genealogists, we are ensuring that this is not the case. We are researching and sharing important life stories, reconnecting families, providing closure — all incredibly fulfilling.
