After graduating from university in July 2023 with a degree in history, I embarked upon the ever-daunting journey of finding my first post-university job.
I knew that I wanted to blend the fields of history and law, and after months of fruitless searching, I came across this opportunity at Treethorpe which seemed to do just that.
Before coming across Treethorpe and the Research Administrator role, I was not aware that probate genealogy existed. After looking more deeply into what probate genealogy entailed, as well as into Treethorpe specifically, I quickly became excited at the prospect of joining the team.
What I saw was the chance to transfer the research and analytical skills I had meticulously built up during my time studying to a job which would allow me to grow personally and professionally whilst making a marked difference to people’s lives.
Having been a member of Treethorpe’s London team for five months now, I believe all the promise I imagined above has been fulfilled beyond my expectations.
Already my research skills have vastly improved as each unique case demands that I come up with new ways to solve the different challenges they present.
As well as this — due to thorough training and the continued support of my ever-helpful colleagues — I have witnessed my previously untested client relation skills blossom in the space of a few short months. I now look forward to liaising with my clients as we build up our relationship, and I consider it a real privilege that I am the one who gets to share details of their family’s story with them.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first few months at Treethorpe, and I am keen to continue my time here.
