These past six months here at Treethorpe have been quite transformational.
Moving from a non-profit organisation to a genealogy firm did have its challenges, but now I feel I have settled into my new role. My discipline and analytical skills have been pushed like none other.
I’ve been able to develop several life-long skills through the training, such as compartmentalisation, analytical configuration, client liaison and time management. The support and camaraderie from the team here at Treethorpe has been nothing short of inspiring to say the least. Through every case study and client engagement, I can truly see the company values being implemented: professionalism, integrity, and client focus. Learning from their experience has introduced me to a richer understanding of the unique value each client encounter possesses.
Learning how to accommodate the different client personalities I have encountered through this job was definitely an unexpected challenge. I found that certain approaches would work with one client but not necessarily the best approach for another.
However, through greater experience with the clients as well as learning more about the research and materials that go into every case, I’ve been able to conquer that hurdle and find a unique, more specialised approach to liaising with clients. I can also testify that this approach has paved the way for some great conversations with clients where they have felt more than happy to share information and talk about how they’re feeling about the whole process.
Above all else, the research aspect still proves to be my favourite part of the job. The accomplishment of being able to create a large family tree from just a name and date of birth is still so great a skill to be able to practice with confidence.
Throughout my time at Treethorpe, I hope to continue to develop my abilities and contribute to the high quality of service offered to the company’s clients.
