An Evening at the National Paralegal Awards

Treethorpe were honoured to attend the 2024 National Paralegal Awards (NPA). On the 5th of September, the paralegal industry came together at the esteemed Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, to celebrate the excellence of paralegals nationwide for the sixth year running.

We were delighted to attend with our highest number of nominees to date, as 10 of the Treethorpe team were finalists across various categories.

Conor Corder, Teona Dobson, Nicoletta Santonocito and Samuel Till were nominees in the ‘Best Paralegal Newcomer/Young Practitioner’ Category. Treethorpe were delighted to sponsor this category for the third year in a row. At Treethorpe, we are keen to recognise the achievements of those who will shape the future of the paralegal industry and are proud to have so many of our newcomers nominated.

Rebecca McNaught, Caroline Cooper and Jake Lewis were nominated finalists in the ‘Best Probate Research Paralegal’ category.

Alasdair Doyle was a finalist for the ‘National Paralegal of the Year’ award.

Last but by no means least, Takudzwa Mutevedzi and Gemma Greenfield were shortlisted in the ‘Paralegal of the Year — South’ category.

In a year of stiff competition, we are particularly proud of our Commercial Manager and Team Leader Rebecca McNaught, whose hard work and dedication was recognised by the panel of judges. Rebecca came away with ‘Highly Commended’ in her category — congratulations!

The evening started with a drinks reception attended by ambassadors representing the various companies sponsoring the different awards categories. This excellent networking opportunity was accompanied by a wonderful saxophonist, who was one of the highlights of the evening.

As the other finalists and attendees filtered into the venue, we sat down for what proved to be a delicious three course meal, before the main event kicked off. It was a joy to see so many of our fellow dedicated paralegals celebrated on stage, each accompanied by a well-deserved round of applause and a series of dazzling pyrotechnic displays.

A particular highlight of the evening was having the privilege of witnessing Millicent Grant KC (Hon) being recognised with the Outstanding Achievement Award. It was moving hearing Millicent’s journey in full, from legal Secretary to CILEX President and beyond.

We would like to thank CILEX for seamlessly taking over such a prestigious event and we can’t wait to attend again next year!
