For many of the new members of staff, this was their first opportunity to meet the entire Treethorpe team.
The day kicked off at Tivoli, sparking the competitive spirit across both teams. The skill levels varied greatly among the teams. Both the London and Cambridge offices were split into two groups, allowing everyone a chance to mingle with unfamiliar faces and compete for a winning and losing group.
After crowning the mini golf champion, we moved on to Byron’s, a popular burger restaurant with something for everyone. The delicious food and huge milkshakes were a welcome reward after the competitive but fun mini golf session.
With the day in full swing and everyone well-fed, our final stop was The Eagle pub. This historic pub, known as the oldest in Cambridge, was a fitting end to our day. As a company that delves into genealogical research and old records daily, it was only appropriate to end our event at a pub dating back to the 16th century. The Eagle boasts a rich history, including the RAF Bar covered in graffiti from WWII airmen, the site where the double helix structure of DNA was discovered, and that even holds tales of a haunted barmaid.
Now, The Eagle has also hosted the Treethorpe Summer Event 2024. Some might argue it was the most significant event there in some time. Overall, the day created many happy memories. Even though some may have gone home with heavier heads than others, both teams had a wonderful time.
We all look forward to getting together again at the Christmas event at the end of the year.
